Abstract

The objective of this paper is to conduct stability analysis on a grid forming voltage source converter (VSC). The effects of the dc-link control and the power droop parameters are investigated. Stability analysis is based on a 3times 3 admittance model defining the current and voltage relationship viewed from dc and ac ports. The model is identified from experiment measurement data. The study shows that increasing the dc-link controller gain or the real power droop coefficient within suitable limits can enhance the dc-side stability of the VSC system. The analysis results have been verified by the electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation results.
