Technical information about this website’s accessibility

This website accessibility is reviewed on an annual basis in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA   Link opens in a new tab standard guidelines. The latest VPAT report can be found here  Link opens in a new tab.

Non accessible content

With every VPAT certification, we review the list of issues where accessibility of the Portal needs to be improved. These issues are prioritized by the team that does the audit and we work to resolve these, aiming to address the most critical issues first, where possible.

You can find the latest VPAT report, update on the improvements made so far, as well as the roadmap for the coming months here  Link opens in a new tab.

Disproportionate burden

Elsevier B.V. has no control over the accessibility of uploaded content linked to from pages, for instance datasets or pdf documents associated with research output. As such, we cannot be held liable for their adherence to accessibility criteria. Often, these documents are provided in the format required by the respective publisher.

Providing an accessibility solution for these documents would, in our view represent a disproportionate burden   Link opens in a new tab within the meaning of the United Kingdom accessibility regulations.

How we tested this website

The website is tested annually, you can find the date of the latest review along with the latest VPAT statement here  Link opens in a new tab. The test was carried out by the Elsevier Digital Accessibility team. As Elsevier B.V. powers websites for multiple clients on our platform, we tested accessibility on a sample client, judged to be largely representative. The sample of pages we tested on is based on the most visited pages and those most essential to navigation of our website. For further details on what we tested, and the results, you can read the full accessibility test report Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) report   Link opens in a new tab.
