Abstract

A number of new ruthenium(II) complexes, [Ru(PPh₃)₂L₂] (L = monoanions of Schiff bases formed from 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, 3,5-dibromosalicylaldehyde and salicylaldehyde with aniline or its p-substituents), have been prepared. They were characterized by spectroscopic techniques and investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The effective catalytic oxidation of alcohols by these complexes in the presence of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide or molecular oxygen gas as co-oxidants is reported.
