Abstract
The bioimpedance signal represents an impedance variation of a stretch body submitted to an electric current of high frequency and low intensity. This signal gives an idea on hemodynamics and biomechanical of explored cardiovascular system behavior. Arterial compliance C, which represents the variation of volume per unit of pressure, is a biomechanical parameter that illustrates the ability of body elasticity, for example the vascular system. Any abnormality of circulation or hydrodynamics can reflect on this system. The determination of this compliance is vital in the table of the doctor's diagnosis. The assessment of the arterial compliance was performed, often, by invasive procedures such as cardiac catheterization. This work is to present an non-invasive method for the determination of aortic compliance. The investigations are based on the design of a theoretical model of the theoretical bioimpedance and the determination of a formula for calculating the arterial compliance C. Bioimpedance signal processing enabled the determination of this compliance for 30 patients of heart disease. The correlation of our new method with cardiac catheterization method helped to validate the results found with significant correlation (p < 0.001).
