Abstract

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor in Chief. Following an investigation into a number of papers published as part of the Urban Groundwater Special Issue in Urban Climate, it became evident that the names of two co-authors of this article were removed and five co-authors added to this submission during the revision process, without an explanation; agreement of all co-authors; and approval from the editor in chief: The following names were removed - Ahmed Sayed M. Metwally; Ali Naser. The following names were added - Abdullah Hisam Omar; Ahmad Sobri Hashim; Teg Alam; Hamiden Abd El-Wahed Khalifa; Mohamed Abdelghany Elkotb. These wholesale authorship changes amount to authorship manipulation, which is a serious violation of publication ethics standards and a breach of the Journal's policy on authorship changes. The authors were contacted to account for these changes, but no response has been forthcoming. The Journal apologises to readers that these authorship changes were missed during peer review, however the Editors no longer have confidence in the validity and integrity of this paper and have decided to retract it.
