title = "Efficacy of hard seed shell and wings on seed germination of Moringa oleifera",
abstract = "Moringa (Moringa oleifera Lam.) is a highly valued plant and has an impressive range of medicinal and industrial uses with high nutritional value. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of hard seed shell and wings on seed germination and seedling growth in M. oleifera. The laboratory experiments were carried out at the premises of the Sara bint Rached bin Ghonaim Research Chair for Cultivating non-Traditional Medicinal and Aromatic plants, PSAU, Alkharj (24°15'N; 47°30'E), KSA. The seed material of moringa was obtained from Cairo, Egypt. Three treatments were established as follows: T1: control, sowing of the seeds without neither hard seed shell nor wings removed; T2: seed wings removed; T3: hard seed shell removed. The results showed significant effects on most of the germination parameters; final germination percentage (FGP), mean germination time (MGT), coefficient velocity (CV), seedling vigour index (SVI), energy of germination (EG), emergence rate (ER), and speed of germination (SG).",
