Abstract

This paper introduces a Cluster-based and Coverageaware Energy efficient node Scheduling (CCES) algorithm of Mobile Wireless Sensor Network (MWSN), which (i) selects a primary cluster head (PCH) and a number of secondary cluster heads (SCHs) in each cluster that back-up the PCH in case the remaining energy of PCH goes below a threshold value or it fails (ii) achieves energy efficiency and network coverage by selecting a minimum number of active nodes in each cluster, and (iii) also supports mobility of sensor nodes. Experimental results show that the CCES scheduling scheme has much lower network energy consumptions and higher network lifetime than the existing Cluster-based Coverage preserved Node Scheduling (CCNS) scheme.
