Retraction notice to “Study of the effect of the aspect ratio of a cylindrical lithium-ion battery enclosure in an air-cooled thermal management system” [J. Energy Storage 45 (2022) 103684] (Journal of Energy Storage (2022) 45, (S2352152X2101358X), (10.1016/j.est.2021.103684))

Please note that an Expression of Concern has previously been published to alert readers to an ongoing investigation into this paper. This retraction supersedes the Expression of Concern. This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. Post-publication, the Editor-in-Chief discovered suspicious changes in authorship between the original submission and the revised version of this paper. In summary, one author was removed from the paper and the author's name A.S. El-Shafay was added to the revised paper without exceptional approval by the journal Editor, which is contrary to the journal policy on changes to authorship. The authors failed to provide a satisfactory explanation to the above changes. Furthermore, the acceptance of this article was partly based upon the positive advice of reviewer reports from reviewers who were closely linked to the Guest Editors Nader Karimi and Masoud Afrand. The Editor also noticed a significant increase of citations of papers by one of the Guest Editors between the original submission and the revised version. In summary, 3 papers by Nader Karimi were cited in the original version of the paper. This increased to 10 papers in the revised version. Two of the Guest Editors receive the most citations in this article; namely Nader Karimi [10 citations] and Masoud Afrand [10 citations]. Overall, the Editor has determined that the paper should be retracted.
