Abstract

The main purpose of the present work consists in the study of the influence of electronic power supply of high intensity discharge (HID) lamp by square wave form with variable short current drop and the effects on the mercury lamp properties. The acquisition of the arc current and arc voltage enables us to investigate the influence of this power supply on the electrical characterization such as the behavior of the lamp conductance. A comparison between simulations and measurements of HID lamps confirms the agreement between the electric model and the experiment.
