Abstract

This paper presents a practical application of a fuzzy logic based supervisory control structure to regulate the pressure in pilot pressure control system. The controller structure is designed to adjust the controller parameters of a classical PID controller using fuzzy supervisory system. The fuzzy supervisory system is adopted to tune the classical controller online for set-point tracking as well as disturbance rejection by using the error and change in process input. This online tuning concept will greatly reduce the human involvement in tuning the controller parameters of a classical controller over a wide range operating conditions. The control algorithm has been developed and tested experimentally through a 32-bit ARM7 embedded microcontroller board. The results are compared with a classical PID and fuzzy controllers. The proposed control scheme performs better for set-point tracking and disturbance rejection.
