Abstract
A model for transient laminar flow in pipes, giving the instantaneous axial velocity profiles, is presented. The model is inspired from Prado et Larreteguy (2002) model and is based on the polynomial expansion of the radial profiles of axial velocities, and the solution of the resulting set of equations by the Lax-Wendroff method. The test of the new model against experimental results, mathematical models and numerical simulations of other authors show that it is able to obtain comparable results.
