Abstract
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) enjoy a prime position in any economy. Subsequent to globalization, competitiveness has been established as the predominant factor in the markets. This has taken away all protection henceforth enjoyed by SMEs. Due to acute competition, SMEs are now facing a host of problems, including HR issues. A number of studies have examined various issues pertaining to SMEs. However, HR issues are yet to get the due focus. Though many studies have examined HR issues in SMEs, there exists substantial gap in literature in this area. The present study attempts to address this gap in literature. The study conducted in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, collected data from a sample of 400 SME employees. Through Factor Analysis, the study has identified four factors that the employees perceive as problems faced by them. It is expected that the present work will trigger more works in the HR issues of SMEs.
